Background & Purpose:
The Fitness Council, formerly known as AFIRM, was created to unite fitness industry manufacturers and retailers to help increase fitness participation, solve common issues and provide business solutions.

     Research Benefits

  • Providing information and insight to drive decision making
  • Fitness Council Members receive six free research reports annually valued at $2,100, including the Tracking the Fitness Movement Report which is America’s premier report dedicated to fitness trends and insights

     PEP and PHIT - Increasing Fitness Participation

  • Carol M. White Physical Education Program or PEP - provides grants to drive growth in physical education. Over $800 million in grants given to schools across America, with roughly half of that going directly towards purchasing fitness equipment
  • The Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act- is new SFIA legislation which will give Americans tax incentives to get active and purchase fitness related equipment

Product Safety

  • Educate and inform members on product safety regulations
  • Webinars on product safety issues in the past have included Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) updates, California Prop 65 issues, California Green Chemistry Regulations and other relevant topics

Legal Task Force

  • Providing education and guidance on pressing legal issues
  • Hosts annual Litigation and Risk Management Summit for members on current issues facing fitness manufacturers
