McDavid Snow-Sport Products Now Available at Retail
Woodridge, Ill. – Nov. 22, 2010 – McDavid’s HexPad® line of snow-sport protective apparel is now available at retail in participating Sports Authority stores and on Amazon.com.
The product line, which includes HexPad® baselayer tops, bottoms and knee and arm sleeves that are designed to keep common areas of injury protected, was originally launched in Europe last year and in the United States in January 2010. HexPad is an exclusive and proprietary technology that bonds small hex-shaped athletic pads right onto the fabric, creating a lightweight and breathable protective layer that moves with and conforms to the athletes.
“At trade shows earlier this year, we began showing skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts across America what they’ve been missing – specific body protection without restriction,” Rey Corpuz, McDavid’s director of marketing said. “And now, we’re pleased to be able to offer these products, which already have been fully embraced in the European market, at the retail level here in the states.”
Among the first ski and snowboard champions to adopt the HexPad® technology are Ashley Battersby and Nick Baumgartner, who will be wearing the product this season during major competitions again this season, including the Dew Tour and Winter X games.
“To me, HexPad® feels like a second skin and I never have to worry about any bumps or bruises that I may get jockeying for position out of the gate or on the course,” Baumgartner said.
“The technology gives me a much better range of motion which means it not only protects, but it improves performance, as well,” Battersby added.
As of now, the participating Sports Authority locations include Anchorage, Alaska; Vail, Colo.; Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Dillon, Colo.; Littleton, Colo.; Avon, Colo.; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; Park City, Utah; and Jackson, Wyo. The product can also be purchased directly on www.mcdavidusa.com.
As a world leader in protective sports apparel, McDavid continues to expand its product offerings to support every athlete. Players in sports such as football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, soccer, rugby, hockey and even rodeo have been wearing the HexPad® technology since its inception in 2004. Battersby and Baumgartner are among several McDavid Team Athletes, including NBA stars Dwyane Wade and Corey Maggette and NFL star Knowshon Moreno.
