Summary of SFIA Efforts with WHIP
WHIP will help increase fitness participation by eliminating taxes paid by employees on an employer contributions for fitness center dues. WHIP makes it less expensive for employees to "Join a Fitness Center" program.
Other Information on WHIP
The WHIP Act removes the tax penalty on employees who accept employer contributions to help pay health club dues. Employers could deduct contributions to employees’ health club/fitness center expenses. WHIP was re-introduced in October 2011 by Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Tom Harkin (D-IA).
