Small Business Reform
Congress and the Federal Government continually review laws and regulations impacting the business community. With the significant majority of the American workforce employed by small businesses, many policies are created to encourage entrepreneurship and improve the environment for small businesses. SGMA promotes a pro-business agenda in Washington on several fronts including taxes, healthcare and labor. Our goal is to support government efforts which enhance prospects for small business development by providing increased opportunities for success.
Legal Reform
A serious result of America's leadership in business and innovation is the threat of U.S. companies' face of legal action directed at their products, services, and policies. SGMA represents the sporting goods manufacturers in supporting a fair judicial system based on reasonable laws and realistic interpretation of law's intent. Congress and the Federal Government analyze current laws, propose adjustments to them and create new legal policies on a regular basis. SGMA promotes legal reform in a variety of areas including Product Liability, Medical Liability and Labor Law. With American companies spending more and more time and money defending themselves in our judicial system, SGMA supports efforts to limit unnecessary litigation so businesses can dedicate more time and resources to growing, creating jobs and improving their bottom line.
Product Safety
SGMA is committed to the development of sporting goods and fitness products that are designed with consumer safety in mind. Working with government regulatory bodies, SGMA’s goal is to ensure guidelines, rules and regulations are reasonable and take into consideration the concerns of the sporting goods and fitness industries.
