The Fitness Council, formerly known as AFIRM, was created to unite fitness industry manufacturers and retailers to help increase fitness participation, solve common issues and provide business solutions.

Research Benefits
- Providing information and insight to drive decision making
- Fitness Council Members receive six free research reports annually valued at $2,100, including the Tracking the Fitness Movement Report which is America’s premier report dedicated to fitness trends and insights
PEP and PHIT - Increasing Fitness Participation
- Carol M. White Physical Education Program or PEP - provides grants to drive growth in physical education. Over $800 million in grants given to schools across America, with roughly half of that going directly towards purchasing fitness equipment
- The Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act- is new SFIA legislation which will give Americans tax incentives to get active and purchase fitness related equipment
- Educate and inform members on product safety regulations
- Webinars on product safety issues in the past have included Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) updates, California Prop 65 issues, California Green Chemistry Regulations and other relevant topics
- Providing education and guidance on pressing legal issues
- Hosts annual Litigation and Risk Management Summit for members on current issues facing fitness manufacturers
