Reasons to Join:

Operating successfully in the golf industry requires you to have access to information specialized for your segment, allowing for understanding of the regulatory changes that could influence your business and forecasts for the future of the golf industry. SFIA provides these and more—join today, and read below to learn how SFIA membership specifically benefits the golf community.

Your Concern: Connecting with peers in the golf industry segment

The SFIA Solution: The US Golf Manufacturers Council (USGMC), organized and facilitated by SFIA, is a forum for SFIA golf manufacturer members to connect and discuss common issues, including USGA and R&A Standards and growing the game of golf. Participation in the USGMC is only available to SFIA members within the golf industry.

Your Concern: Intellectual Property Rights

The SFIA Solution: Membership in SFIA means you will be one of the first to know about advocacy success. SFIA is currently working vigorously to prevent online sales of counterfeit golf goods and products, including licensed products, by passing legislation that gives the Federal Government greater authority and new powers of regulation.

Your Concern: International Organization Representation

The SFIA Solution: Membership in SFIA supports SFIA’s partnerships with international organizations like R&A, USGA, WFSGI, and WTO to protect and promote American business interests.

Your Concern: Outdated tariffs and high import costs

The SFIA Solution: SFIA works in collaboration with members to promote targeted tariff relief that will eliminate outdated tariffs to help reduce import costs for members. Since 2013, SFIA has helped to reduce tariffs up to $500,000 per year for golf companies.

Your Concern: Staying abreast of industry trends

The SFIA Solution: As the leading supplier of research for the sports, fitness, and active lifestyle industry, SFIA research publishes over 100 reports per year that will help you understand current trends and forecast for the future. Associate or non-profit members receive five select reports free each year – for a savings of more than $1,900. Need more? We also have sports specific research reports and offer custom research at a discount to our member companies.

Your Concern: Digesting in-depth research and understanding trends

The SFIA Solution: A series of 60-minute research webinars. Designed to highlight key insights from the major SFIA Reports, including the State of the Industry, Trends in Team Sports Report, and Tracking the Fitness Movement Report, these presentations feature insights from recognized industry researchers and are free to any employee from an SFIA member company – a savings $249 per webinar.

Your Concern: The Inactivity Pandemic

The SFIA Solution:  Launched in September 2014, the Increase Participation Plan is the biggest initiative the sports and fitness industry has undertaken to increase participation. SFIA, working closely with industry partner PHIT America, are executing a two pronged plan to combat the inactivity pandemic and get 1 million kids active again by 2020.

  • Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act:  The PHIT Act is legislation pending in Congress which will allow Americans to use Pre-Tax Medical Accounts to pay for physical activity expenses. The PHIT Act will provide an incentive for adults and their children to get fit which will help prevent healthcare costs related to preventable chronic diseases.
  • Go! Grants:  GO! Grants are $1,000 to $5,000 grants to elementary schools to spark and sustain physical activity programs that take place before, during or after the school day. The funds may be used for equipment, facilities, professional development for adults and programs that increase students’ physical activity to the recommended 60 minutes or more per day.  Grants are available in all states and the District of Columbia.
