AFIRM Brings Showcase Tour to Washington D.C. Area
Educational Seminars, Trends Discussed in Intimate Setting
SILVER SPRING, MD (March 15, 2011) – The Association of Fitness Industry Retailers & Manufacturers (AFIRM) is bringing its Showcase Tour to the Baltimore/Washington D.C. metropolitan area on June 6-7, 2011. The Marriott Inn & Conference Center, adjacent to the University of Maryland campus, will serve as the host facility for the two-day event.
This is the second stop on the AFIRM Fitness Showcase Tour, which made its successful debut in Atlanta in February. Fitness industry leaders such as Life Fitness, SFIC, Technogym, Twin Oaks and others have already signed on to be DC Showcase exhibitors. The event will draw hundreds of participants from fitness retail outlets, educational institutions, government and military facilities, medical/ wellness facilities, traditional fitness clubs and more.
The Showcase Tour also features a lineup of industry leading speakers offering educational seminars on a variety of industry trends – including membership retention, sales, referrals the future of medical wellness, exercise as medicine and much more.
“The Showcase is an intimate setting where attendees can educate themselves on the latest products and services, have one-to-one time with AFIRM member companies and come away knowing their time was well spent,” said AFIRM Executive Director Chuck Leve. “Whether you are a fitness industry manufacturer or you are charged with buying equipment for your club, your corporate wellness center, school, or store, you will be coming to a conference of your own community at the Showcase Tour stop.”
AFIRM is aggressively marketing the D.C.-area event to attract a variety of athletic facilities. Admission for the Showcase Tour is $99 – a fee for each business address, meaning any organization (a gym, retailer, etc.) may bring as many representatives as it wishes for $99. According to Leve, AFIRM is also offering special pricing and promotions for the Showcase Tour through its Facebook and Twitter pages.
“The Showcase Tour is a terrific value,” added Leve, who has nearly 40 years experience working in the fitness industry. “Businesses typically invest thousands to take two or three people to a big, national tradeshow. AFIRM wants the Showcase Tour to be accessible. We are promoting education for attendees and success for all of our exhibitors.”
AFIRM was created in 2009 by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) to give retailers and manufacturers a pronounced presence and to rally them in an effort to create a better business climate that strengthens the fitness industry as a whole. Before AFIRM, retailers and manufacturers had never been represented with a unified voice working on their behalf.
“The Showcase will welcome attendees from health clubs and personal training facilities, from colleges, high schools and wellness centers, and from hotels and apartment complexes,” said Leve. “All of these people are going to network with one another, hear from world-class speakers and learn more about their industry. It will be an exciting, fast-paced event.”
