Schutt Sports Reports 15% Increase in Football Equipment Sales
Litchfield, Ill. – Sept. 22, 2011 – Schutt Sports, the world’s leading manufacturer of football helmets and faceguards, reported today that sales through the first eight months of 2011 have increased 15% from 2010 in its key football division. In an industry that is generally flat, the sales performance for the first eight months is even more impressive.
Double digit growth in several key categories fueled the overall growth, according to the company. Helmets, shoulder pads, faceguards and accessories all registered significant increases compared to the same period in 2010.
“When you look back at where this company was a year ago, this growth is remarkable,” said Robert Erb, president and CEO of Schutt Sports. “This company went through significant court-supervised restructuring and gained a new ownership group. To say that we’re showing this amount of growth only a few months after all that, speaks volumes about the quality and dedication of our suppliers, our employees and our customers.”
A recent flurry of elite NFL players switching to Schutt helmets has sparked a lot of interest in the company’s gear. Tom Brady, Michael Vick, Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Brandon Marshall and James Laurinaitis are a few of the NFL all-stars who have switched.
“Our helmets absorb more impact across a wide range of temperatures than any other helmets on the field,” said Erb. “Studies have shown that the TPU Cushioning in our helmets is the most advanced padding system on the field. And that’s starting to pay dividends in the NFL and everywhere else, as we work with the teams and equipment managers to educate them on true helmet performance.”
The company expects the dramatic growth to carry into the final quarter for 2011, which will be a springboard for new product introductions in 2012.
