SFIA to be Featured in ESPN Town Hall on Kids and Sports Airing Sunday, February 9th
SILVER SPRING, MD – February 7, 2014 – Research from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) along with interviews from SFIA President & CEO Tom Cove will be featured in an ESPN Town Hall on Kids and Sports which will air this Sunday at 8pm ET on ESPN2. The town hall event was facilitated by ESPN, the Aspen Institute, and the Clinton Foundation to provide a powerful dialogue on the role of sports in the lives of children and the health of the nation.
“We’re pleased we could contribute to such an important discussion on a national scale,” said Cove. “SFIA Research being recognized as the foremost source when it comes to sports participation data highlights the quality of research offerings provided to our members.”
SFIA Research and the Physical Activity Council (PAC) Report, conducted by Sports Marketing Surveys USA, have been utilized by national media outlets within the past week to examine youth sports participation in America. The Wall St. Journal explored the decline of youth team sports in a front-page article leading up to the Super Bowl, while Forbes highlighted SFIA Research earlier this week in writing about the correlation between the middle class and casual youth athletes.
Also airing on Sunday at 9am ET, ESPN’s Emmy Award-winning program Outside the Lines interviews Tom Cove and uses SFIA Research in a piece focused on Marketing Sports to Moms.
