Omni-Channel Retailing to be Explored at SFIA Litigation & Risk Management Summit

Date: 12/10/14

With Omni-Channel Retailing becoming more and more vital to a company's buisness, join Anthony Lupo (Arent Fox LLP), and Steven R. Sedberry (Jeanswear America, VF Imagewear, Inc.) as this panel will address the latest legal trends of apparel companies collecting data from their websites, stores, and apps; protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights with distributors and third parties; and publicity rights lawsuits by celebrities against apparel brands at the 2015 SFIA Litigation & Risk Management Summin to be held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel Las Vegas on February 2-3, 2015.

Representatives from Alleson Athletic and Gildan Apparel have also been invited to participate as speakers on this session.

The session will cover three of the hottest business and legal issues retailers face today:

  • (1) Implementing an omni-channeling strategy - including collecting consumer data gathered in-store, on-line, and from applications; and, utilizing that data so that affiliates and/or related parties in the U.S. or internationally can better serve customers.
  • (2) Important provisions that should be included in celebrity agreements - including moral and non-compete clauses, and requirements to wear the product.
  • (3) Publicity agreements – including a discussion about the use of a celebrity’s image or likeness on clothing items, advertising related to the brand, and collateral products.

Lawyers, in-house counsels, risk managers, import/export personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, and chemical content compliance personnel from across the sports and fitness industry will convene for this annual Summit to gain guidance and learn of ways to navigate through the changing landscape of legal risk and regulatory threats while earning Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credits.

The agenda for the 2015 Summit includes other topics such as  Helmets and Traumatic Brain Injuries, Intellectual Property and Patents, and Current Expectations and Trends Related to CPSC Recalls. Early bird registration will close on January 5, 2015 and space is currently limited. To learn more about the 2015 Summit and register, please visit www.sfia.org/lrms.
