SFIA Congratulates National Health Through Fitness Day Athlete Tim Brown on Hall of Fame Election
SILVER SPRING, MD – February 3, 2015 – The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) is pleased to congratulate former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown on his election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Brown, a veteran of SFIA’s National Health Through Fitness Day, has been an avid supporter of getting America moving to improve the country’s health.
“To achieve the highest individual honor within your profession is no small feat,” said Tom Cove, SFIA President & CEO. “Tim’s induction into the Hall is well-deserved. Aside from being a Hall of Fame wide receiver, he is an even greater person off the field. His work within the community and around the country to get kids and adults active is Hall of Fame worthy on its own.”
Tim Brown was awarded SFIA’s National Health Through Fitness Day Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 for his commitment to promoting physical education and active lifestyles in America. Brown is joined by John Booty, Ken Harvey, Jenny Simpson, Stan Smith, and Herschel Walker as other Lifetime Achievement Award recipients.
Over 100 sports and fitness industry leaders will team with recognized athletes in Washington D.C. on March 4th for SFIA’s National Health Through Fitness Day. The group will urge Congress to pass major legislation that would “Get America Moving”. The association’s annual lobby day will focus on the Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act and the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP), both of which are imperative to improving the health of the country while reducing future medical spending.
