Diamond Kinetics Closes Investment Round
PITTSBURGH, PA - North Shore startup Diamond Kinetics announced today the closing of a new round of outside capital, bringing the total investment to date in the company to $3 million. The latest investment is intended to advance the company’s commercialization and development efforts around its cutting edge wireless motion sensors and software applications that focus on improving baseball and softball performance.
With this round of investment, Diamond Kinetics adds to a strong existing group of experienced investors, amongst others, that include Innovation Works, a nationally recognized seed stage investor, and retired Respironics (now Philips Respironics) CEO James Liken. Along with commitments from these and other current investors, the company welcomes several additional new investors including Robert (Bob) Nutting, Principal Owner and Chairman of the Pittsburgh Pirates and member of Major League Baseball’s Executive Council.
"Our new investors share our vision for the impact Diamond Kinetics’ technology can have on the games of baseball and softball," Diamond Kinetics CEO C.J. Handron said. "Combining deep business, early stage technology, and baseball experience, this strong group of investors provides great support for the growth of our company."
Diamond Kinetics will use the additional capital to focus on sales and marketing efforts, further advance the technology platform, and continue to add talented individuals to help achieve company goals.
Earlier this year, Diamond Kinetics’ first product, SwingTracker, was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association as one of the top sports technology tools on the market, with Diamond Kinetics being awarded “Best in Show” at the ABCA Convention held in Orlando, FL.
Moreover, Diamond Kinetics was named as a finalist for 2015 Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards for the Bluetooth powered SwingTracker sensor. The awards applaud the most innovative products and applications developed for the wireless protocol of today.
