SILVER SPRING, MD – August 6, 2015 – The ‘Inactivity Pandemic’ has hit the sports & fitness industry hard. Since 2007, the number of core participants in six out of seven sports & fitness categories has dropped as a percentage of the U.S. population.  In some cases, the drop in participation has been a double-digit decline.  Core participants are those who participate several times per year in a specific sport or activity.

One segment -- winter sports -- has been resilient and actually grew during this time period.

“We applaud the leaders and entrepreneurs in the winter sports business, especially the snow sports industry,” says Jim Baugh, Founder of PHIT America. “What they have done to grow participation and fight the ‘Inactivity Pandemic’ is powerful and a lesson to be learned by other sport category leaders.”

To discuss this and many other facets of the ‘Inactivity Pandemic,’ PHIT America is hosting a free webinar on Thursday, August 13 at 2:00 PM (Eastern).  There will also presentations on what is causing the ‘Inactivity Pandemic,’ the ramifications, what PHIT America is doing to reverse these trends, and what you can do to help.
