PHIT AMERICA ADDS NEW STAFFER WITH INDUSTRY ROOTS!
SILVER SPRING, MD – January 14, 2016 – The new Manager of Sponsor Relations, Research, and Social Media for PHIT America is Colleen Courtney. She will work alongside PHIT America Founder Jim Baugh and PHIT America’s Director of Communications Mike May on a day-to-day basis as PHIT America works to overcome the severe ramifications of the ‘Inactivity Pandemic’ through its three strategic approaches – education, supporting school-based activity programs, and advocating.
Courtney’s primary role with PHIT America will be giving the organization a steady and consistent presence on social media. She will be based in the PHIT America office in Silver Spring, MD which it shares with the Sports & Fitness Industry Association.
“Every day, I’m posting news about the work of PHIT America on news feeds, on Facebook, on Twitter, and on LinkedIn,” says Courtney. “I’m totally aligned with the mission and goals of PHIT America. It’s very important for daily fitness and physical activity to be promoted and encouraged for children in our schools. Active kids are healthier and smarter.”
Courtney, 26, is no stranger to the sporting goods industry as she is the daughter of Team Insight editor-in-chief Mike Jacobsen. Her roots in the industry can be traced back to many hours spent helping her father on magazine photo shoots, attaching labels to magazines, answering the telephone, updating directories, and handed out fliers at industry events.
Courtney is passionate about the sports and fitness industry as she played soccer, basketball and lacrosse as a youngster growing up in Oakland, New Jersey. She is also an experienced soccer referee. Currently, she and her husband are avid runners. They are training for a half marathon in April.
Courtney is a 2011 graduate of Stockton University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work with a minor in gerontology.
