Sports Licensing White Paper 2005

Sports Licensing White Paper 2005

Retail sales of sports licensed products in the U.S. and Canada were $12.6 billion in 2004, a scant 1% lower than the year before, according to research by The Licensing Letter. However, the decline was attributed to two extraordinary factors and does not seem to reflect a lessening of fans' appetites for the enormous range of products that bear the logos and names of their favorite teams, players or leagues. In fact, most major licensors enjoyed significant growth in 2004 and look forward to continued gains in 2005. Had it not been for the NHL lockout and reduced sales of retro jerseys for street fashion, the sales in 2004 would have been higher. This report reviews and details this market segment, providing the researcher with specific data and statistical information necessary to make those tough decisions in an often tougher market. 2005 Edition - 24 pages [pdf: 1567k]
