As a result of the trade wars, virtually all imports into the US of Chinese origin products are, or will be, subject to additional 15-30 percent tariffs. Most sporting industry products are subject to additional tariffs, because they appear on List 3 or List 4, as published by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). The USTR has established an exclusion process for List 3 products and intends to establish a similar process for List 4 products. List 3 exclusion requests are due September 30, 2019. Through the exclusion process, importers who pay additional tariffs on Chinese origin goods may obtain refunds of all duties paid and avoid additional tariffs on future entries. The USTR has already granted more than 7,500 exclusion requests for products appearing on Lists 1 & 2. This webinar provides insight into how importers may obtain relief from additional tariffs through the List 3 & List 4 exclusion request process.
Topics of Insight:
  1. Details on how the exclusion process works, the timing and likelihood of success
  2. Summary of the information that must be submitted to support an exclusion request
  3. Key factors the USTR considers when granting exclusion requests
  4. How to preserve rights to duty refunds on past entries pending a final determination from the USTR
  5. Q&A
