NFL Draft Hopefuls Pledge Their Loyalty to Schutt Helmets

Date: 3/26/12

Litchfield, Ill. – March 26, 2012-- The 2012 NFL Draft is right around the corner and hundreds of college athletes will become be living out their dreams of playing professional football.  This year’s NFL draft will feature a manifold of high profile players who have worn Schutt helmets throughout their collegiate careers and plan to wear the Schutt brand on Sunday afternoons.

Many of the soon-to-be draft picks wore either an XP, DNA, or Air Advantage while in college.  Most of the players said the feel and look of the helmet is what attracted them to the product.

“I liked the look at first,” said former Oregon quarterback Daron Thomas, “Especially the facemask and the visor.”

Linebacker Garrick Williams commented on the Schutt DNA that he wore while at Texas A&M saying, “The helmet was very comfortable.  I liked the sleek and modern look.”

2011 Paul Hornung Award winner and former Georgia Bulldog Brandon Boykin says he’s always been impressed by the feel and protection of Schutt.

“I’ve always been comfortable in a Schutt helmet,” said Boykin, “It protects my head and it feels good.”

“We are hearing more and more from athletes that they are insisting on wearing Schutt helmets once they enter the NFL,” said DJ MacLean, the director of sports marketing for Schutt Sports, “Many of the athletes who wore Schutt helmets in youth and high school football are still loyal to the brand.”

Georgia is one of nine NCAA teams that have branding agreements with Schutt.  In addition to Georgia, programs from USF, Penn State, West Virginia, Clemson, Texas Tech, TCU, Boise State, USC, and Utah will be showing off the Schutt brand on their fields.

“We have established great relationships with some of the biggest programs in the NCAA,” MacLean said, “We are excited to see these NFL draft picks and many more stars of tomorrow continue to wear the Schutt brand.”

Many of these athletes who wear Schutt prefer to continue with the brand in the NFL not just because the helmet is comfortable, but because of its weight. Former NC State defensive lineman J.R. Sweezy said he liked his Schutt DNA “better than any other helmet “a testament to the hard work and dedication put into each and every helmet design.

Schutt helmets are becoming a staple of the NFL; over 30% of the players in the league choose to wear Schutt helmets instead of free helmets from competitors. Close to 80% of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants choose to wear Schutt helmets.

As athletes transition from the collegiate level to the professional level, certain aspects of the game will never change. Schutt has proven longevity in its users and will continue to be the best on the gridiron for all ages.

Schutt Sports is the largest maker of football helmets in America, with more than 55 percent market share overall across youth, collegiate and pro football. For more information, visit www.schutt-sports.com.
